Cute Tulips Inspired by Sarah Fiekle of The Last Piece Blogpost

I'm enjoying using some of my In The Beginning fabrics for my first tulips.
I made up my own templates...so you can too, and decide which you like best.
I'm also showing one of my little helpers which is a magnetised "Bear" which holds my pins.  So handy and easy to use.  I have two pin holders like this....the other is a "heart".

Last night I got even more inspired and constructed four blocks around the larger tulips.  Pictures to come.

"Anna's Alice Quilt"

I made a cute video with pictures of my latest quilt...a continuation of the  Alice in Wonderland theme.
Please go through to my website http://www.salsysafranoquilts.com if you would like to see it.
Meanwhile here are a few pics......

I am meanwhile warming up to finish the teacups project and have another Alice quilt taking shape in my mind.

Quilting Adventures in Melbourne

A Great Place to Get Some Strength Up Before Heading Out to Patchwork on Central Park

So after a very pleasant vanilla slice and green tea I headed out on a tram to Patchwork on Central Park.
It was a cool day and as I slipped in to the warm shop I was greeted by another customer coughing largely in the small space.  It seemed that wherever I went there she was.  I should come back later...I thought, but didn't really have time so braved on with enjoying the delicious range of fabrics there.
I do like to take my time and enjoy the process.
Note to self: 'remember to bring earplugs next time'  Edith Piaff's strident tone was just too much!
'Also, face mask would have been handy'.

I was nearly ready to present my choices to the helpful lady there and as I approached the counter another woman with daughter in tow said loudly to her.."Is the other lady who works here here today??"
The helpful lady and I exchanged looks and bonded instantly as the rude tone continued...
How could that rude woman have known that the "helpful one" didn't have a degree in All Things In Fabric Wonderland"?
Fortunately she sulked off,..did I mention 'rude'?... and I continued to have my new stash stacked up and headed off.
Just around the corner there was a lovely cafe and the reception so warm and caring that I almost burst in to tears.  Sometimes these expeditions are more stressful than one imagines in anticipation.

Tea Cups in an Attic Window

How do you like my fabric stash ready for class last week at Kapiti Coast Bernina.  Diana patiently led me through the process...my first attic window/ cupboard construction.

By the end of the day I had the quilt top made.  Now I'm awaiting the shop sale for the back and a few other items next week.
I'll post a photo of the finished article once it is done.
So please check back.
In the meantime...leave me a comment...what do you think??

Only a Small Amount To Show For a Lot of Background Work

This week has been the week where I finally tackled a bit more of my technophobia and uploaded the Wordpress e-Commerce plugin to my website, configured it and uploaded my first products to my Products Page.
Sounds like I know what I am doing as I read this, but I can tell you there has been a lot of brain-strain and trial and error.
The first four products for sale are now online...yummy blue upcycled wool blanket cushions.  These are a great compliment to any favorite quilt.

Once I get over the initial excitement I have a few aprons to show you, and two of the quilts already shown in previous posts.
I've even got a few ideas for some free giveaways...So Watch This Space.

Check out the new products on http://www.salsysafranoquilts.com

Do leave me a message.

Thanks from Salsy

In The Mood For a Few Upcycled Wool Blanket Cushions

Over the last couple of days I have felt like creating a few cushions.  From a recycled, rewashed and sundried blue blanket I have had fun creating these.
Don't you just love the happy blue colour.  My lovely partner picked one up and snuggled in to it and said..."Can we keep these ones?".

They are in fact for sale!

Please visit the Products Page at  http://www.salsysafranoquilts.com

Enjoy

More Hearts for Christchurch

AS there continue to be more earthquakes in Christchurch I have posted off a few more hearts to Evie.  Check out her site for an international gathering of hearts sending love to the people of Christchurch.

The southerly blaster, straight from Antarctica has hit too...it can't be much fun down there.
Thanks to Evie,
